Corinthians lose at home, unbeaten Itaquera run ends

On a less inspired afternoon, Corinthians was defeated by Ceará at the Neo Química Arena, during the 33rd round of the Brasileirão. The setback ended the positive streak that the team led by Dorival Júnior had been building, remaining unbeaten since the end of September.

The last home defeat had been against Flamengo, on September 28, by 2-1, after a comeback. Since then, Corinthians had secured three points against Mirassol, Atlético-MG, and Grêmio, which made the team dream of a spot in the Libertadores next season.

Unlike other seasons, Corinthians is not experiencing a great phase playing at home in 2025. The Timão is only the 13th best home team in the competition, with five losses, four draws, and seven wins in 16 rounds played. There are three games left to improve the performance.

Now, counting games both home and away, Corinthians has two consecutive losses and is stagnated in the lower part of the table. They have only 42 points, which gives them the 13th position in the overall standings. Matches against Red Bull Bragantino and Ceará were direct confrontations, as both now have 42 points.

To improve their home performance, Corinthians will have a full week to train due to the FIFA date, especially since only one player was called up: Félix Torres, who hasn't played since September. The next challenge is against São Paulo, at the Neo Química Arena.
