Corinthians’ 2-1 loss to Kansas City Current on Thursday in the Teal Rising Cup semi-final cost the club their historical edge against United States opposition.

According to Meu Timao, the Brabas have now faced US teams five times since 1997, recording two wins, one draw and two defeats, with four goals scored and four conceded.

The first meeting came in May 2009, a 0-0 friendly against Penn State Nittany Lions at Parque Ecológico do Tietê.

In July 2025, Corinthians beat Chicago Stars 1-0 in the Teal Rising Cup semi-final, then lost 2-1 to Kansas City Current in the final.

In January 2026 in England, they defeated Gotham FC 1-0 in the Copa das Campeãs da Fifa semi-final, before losing 3-2 to Arsenal in the decider.

After Thursday’s setback, Corinthians will face América of Mexico in the third-place play-off on Sunday at 17:00.
