Corinthians lose Thaís Regina to injury at Women's Club World Cup

Corinthians will have a last-minute absence for the FIFA Women's Club World Cup, the first-ever Women's Club World Cup. Defender Thaís Regina suffered a fibula fracture in her left ankle during a training session held last Thursday at the club's training center.

According to the official statement released by Corinthians, the defender underwent imaging exams and has already begun treatment with the medical department. Even so, the recovery plan includes a surgical procedure scheduled for next week — the same period when the Brabas will travel to London, England. The club did not specify an official timeline for the player's return to the pitch, but recovery from this type of injury typically takes between three and four months.

As a result, Thaís Regina will be cut from the squad traveling next Tuesday to the English capital, where the team will finalize preparations for the World Cup. For the tournament, the squad will have five defenders available: Erika, Thaís Ferreira, Leticia Teles, Duda Mineira, and the newly signed Agustina.

“Sport Club Corinthians Paulista announces that defender Thaís Regina suffered a fibula fracture in her left ankle during the activity held last Thursday (15). The player has already undergone imaging exams, started treatment with the Corinthians Health and Performance Center, and next week will undergo a surgical procedure as part of her recovery plan,” Corinthians announced.

In 2025, her first year wearing the black and white jersey, Thaís Regina played in 30 matches, starting in 26 of them. The defender scored four goals and contributed two assists, in addition to being part of the victorious campaigns that led to the titles of the Brazilian Championship and the Copa Libertadores.

Corinthians will debut in the FIFA Women's Club World Cup on the 28th, against Gotham FC from the United States, in the semifinal of the competition. The match is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. (Brasília time) at the GTech Community Stadium in London. In the other semifinal, Arsenal from England will face ASFAR from Morocco for a spot in the final.
