UOL Esporte reports Corinthians have made a loan bid for Portuguesa striker Renê, 22, and are racing to complete it.
The proposal is a cost-free loan apart from a showcase fee, with a pre-agreed cut in any future sale.
Portuguesa initially sought a permanent move, valuing 80% of his rights at 750,000 euros, about R$ 4.5 million.
With debt near R$ 3 billion, Corinthians have targeted free transfers and loans, adding seven players, four as free agents and three on temporary deals.
Renê emerged at Grêmio Pague Menos in Ceará, then moved to São José, where across three seasons he registered 21 goals and one assist in 78 games.
He joined Portuguesa at the start of 2026 and has been a standout, leading their scoring with seven goals across the Paulista and Copa do Brasil.
He ended the Paulistão with three goals and one assist, and Portuguesa were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Corinthians on penalties, 8-7.
Corinthians also remain in talks with Botafogo over Arthur Cabral in a deal that could involve Pedro Raul. The exception window for state-championship players closes on Friday, 27 March.
Dorival Júnior’s options up front are Yuri Alberto, Memphis Depay, Gui Negão, Vitinho, Pedro Raul, Kayke and Kaio César. After the international break they visit Fluminense at 21:30 on Wednesday at the Maracanã, in round nine of the Brasileiro.
