Corinthians meet Boca Juniors, first futsal clash with Argentine opposition in five years | OneFootball

According to Meu Timao, Corinthians face Boca Juniors on Saturday in the Desafio Internacional de Futsal semi-final, their first meeting with an Argentine side in five years.

In 2021, Corinthians were beaten 2-1 by San Lorenzo in the Libertadores semi-final after Covid-19 absences.

The clubs had also met in the 2019 edition. Corinthians went out to Carlos Barbosa in the quarter-finals, then secured fifth place with wins over San Lorenzo and Venezuela’s Bucaneros.

The friendly tournament is being staged in Joaçaba, Santa Catarina, as part of the city’s 109th anniversary, with kick-off at 16:00 at the Centro de Eventos da Unoesc.

Should they progress, Corinthians will meet either hosts Joaçaba or Paraguay’s Cerro Porteño, who contest the other semi at 18:30. The final is scheduled for Sunday, 20 September, at 18:30. Defeat would send them to the third-place play-off earlier that day at 16:00.

Away from the court, organisers have arranged a Fan Fest outside the venue with food trucks, music and other attractions across the weekend. All matches will be shown on LNF TV and Jovem Pan Joaçaba.
