Corinthians open their 2026 Libertadores campaign away to Platense on Thursday at 21:00 at Estadio Ciudad de Vicente López in Argentina, with Chilean referee Piero Maza appointed.

According to Meu Timao, the club’s record under Maza is five matches, three defeats, one draw and one win.

Their first meeting came in 2019, a 2-2 draw with Independiente Del Valle in the Sudamericana semi-final that ultimately eliminated Corinthians.

In 2022 he oversaw their Libertadores opener against Always Ready, with Corinthians beaten 2-0 in Bolivia.

Two further losses followed, 2-1 to Independiente Del Valle in 2023 and 1-0 to Argentinos Junior in the 2024 Sudamericana, when Raul Gustavo was dismissed for assaulting assistant Cláudio Urrutia. Across those games, Maza showed Corinthians players one red and 11 yellows.

The sole victory arrived in their most recent meeting, a 3-0 win over Fortaleza in the 2024 Sudamericana quarter-finals.

On Thursday Maza will be assisted by compatriots Jose Retamal and Miguel Rocha, with Jose Cabero as fourth official and Juan Lara on VAR.
