Corinthians midfielder lauds Cruzeiro win, targets Sunday clash

On Wednesday night (10), Corinthians went to Mineirão Stadium to face Cruzeiro in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil semifinal and won 1-0. The Corinthians goal was scored by forward Memphis Depay midway through the first half. With this result, the Alvinegro needs only a draw in the return match to reach the final.

After the match, midfielder Breno Bidon spoke to the press in the mixed zone, where he talked about the help he receives from his teammates to perform well on the field: “I believe the whole group has been helping each other, both the older players helping the younger ones, and the younger ones can also help the older ones, but I think if there’s one person who helps me a lot, it’s Maycon, who talks to me every day. So I believe he’s like a big father to me, he helped me a lot with staying focused on the game, being able to concentrate on the match. I think that helped me a lot.”

The youngster also spoke about the importance of the return match, which takes place at Neo Química Arena this Sunday (14). “We have to keep a really good mindset at all times, because games like this aren’t just about technique, it’s not just about desire, so we have to know how to play the game, that’s why we managed to play a great match here today, and thank God we were able to get a good result for the return leg,” he said.

Bidon also celebrated the important support from the Fiel at Mineirão: “I just have to thank them, we know the strength they give us. They know the strength they have, and today was no different. The fans filled the stands, and for 90 minutes they make the difference,” he concluded.
