Corinthians midfielder named top Venezuelan player abroad

The Venezuelan midfielder Day Rodríguez received an important tribute last Wednesday (10). The athlete was chosen as the best footballer from her country playing outside the local league at the “El Mundo es un Balón” award, which is in its fifth edition and recognizes sports highlights in Venezuela across various categories.

In the announcement of the tribute, the award highlighted Day's role in the Brabas' season: “The best Venezuelan player abroad is Dayana Rodríguez! The midfielder, a native of Guárico, played a decisive role in Corinthians' victories in the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship and is recognized as the great winner of this edition!”

Rodríguez was one of the reinforcements signed by Corinthians at the beginning of the year, arriving at Parque São Jorge after her contract with Grêmio ended. At 24 years old, she quickly secured her place in Lucas Piccinato’s team, becoming a starter and being frequently called up to defend her national team. Over the year, the athlete played 39 matches for Alvinegro, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

Day is expected to be on the field this Sunday (14), when Corinthians faces a major challenge in the last game of the season. At 10 a.m., the Brabas face Palmeiras at Canindé, needing to overturn a four-goal deficit to win the state title.
