Corinthians midfielder shines among Série A under-20s this year

On the night of last Sunday (21), Corinthians defeated Vasco 2-1 at Maracanã, with goals scored by Yuri Alberto and Memphis Depay, and were crowned champions of the Copa do Brasil for the fourth time in their history. One of the highlights of the title was midfielder Breno Bidon, who pulled off a stunning dribble in the play that led to the second goal for the team, ending an outstanding individual season on a high note.

According to data provided by Sofascore, an app specializing in sports statistics, Corinthians’ number 27 finished 2025 as the leader in several categories among under-20 athletes in the Série A of the Brasileirão. These include: accurate passes (1,591), accurate long passes (93), tackles (82), interceptions (30), and balls recovered (205).

Still according to the statistics platform, the young 20-year-old midfielder was also the runner-up in defensive actions, with 159, and had the third highest number of duels won, with 249.

With a contract valid until December 31, 2029, Breno Bidon has a release clause set at 100 million euros (about R$ 635 million) for international transfers and R$ 370 million for clubs in the Brazilian market.

Considered one of the main assets of the squad, Bidon is part of Corinthians’ financial planning, which aims to raise R$ 151 million from player sales in 2026. Amid a severe financial crisis, with debt estimated at R$ 2.7 billion, the club sees player negotiations as fundamental to balancing the books. In 2025, Timão raised R$ 90 million from economic rights, a figure well below the R$ 240.6 million initially budgeted.
