Corinthians are close to completing the floodlight overhaul at Alfredo Schurig, the Fazendinha, with tests under way before inspection by the Federação Paulista de Futebol.
According to ge, the club has spent about R$ 450,000 on the project after installing new lamps in recent weeks. Initial plans had budgeted R$ two million to hire an external firm.
At president Osmar Stabile’s request, the work was carried out in-house by the heritage and works department, not outsourced.
The club wants to use the ground for professional women’s matches and academy fixtures. Other events at the venue are not ruled out.
In the coming days a specialist company will visit Parque São Jorge to adjust the lamps and focus the lighting on the pitch. This is considered essential to avoid shadows and to help obtain FPF clearance.
The club will not be charged for that service, with the firm accepting the job in exchange for adding Corinthians to its client portfolio.
