Corinthians open talks to renew Lucas Piccinato’s contract

The Corinthians management is in negotiations with coach Lucas Piccinato, of the women's team, whose contract ends in December 2025. The Alvinegro intends to extend the coach's contract for another three seasons. The information was initially published by Meu Timão.

Last weekend, the coach – along with his athletes – won the sixth title of the Women's Libertadores (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025) by defeating Deportivo Cali from Colombia in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in 90 minutes. The victory also secured the Brabas a spot in the Club World Cup – Copa das Campeãs – from January 28 to February 1, 2026, in London, England.

In the semifinal, the Alvinegro will face Gotham FC from the United States, a team where Gabi Portilho, former forward of the Brabas, currently plays. The competition will also feature the current Women's Champions League champion, which is Arsenal from England. The London team is the current winner of the mentioned tournament.

Since arriving at Parque São Jorge at the beginning of 2024 to replace Arthur Elias – who left the club to take over the Brazilian Women's National Team – Piccinato has won five titles: Brazilian Championship (2024 and 2025), Women's Supercup (2024), and Conmebol Women's Libertadores (2024 and 2025). In total, there are 88 games, with 64 wins, 16 draws, and eight losses – a 79% success rate.

Besides the Libertadores, Corinthians also won the Brazilian Championship in 2025. In the Copa do Brasil, the Brabas were eliminated by São Paulo after a 3-1 defeat. In the Women's Supercup, held in March this year, the Alvinegro was defeated in a penalty shootout by the same opponent and finished as runner-up.

The Brabas received a week off after winning another title and will return to the field only on the next November 1, at 11 am (Brasília time), to face São Paulo at Fazendinha, in the Majestic classic for the 11th round of the Women's Paulistão, in which they are already qualified for the semifinals.
