Corinthians have been ordered by a São Paulo labour court to compensate former futsal player Allan Barreto, who retired in 2025 due to a knee injury. The ruling, first reported by ge.globo, sets payment at R$ 1.223 million.
Substitute judge Taiguer Lucia Duarte of the 32nd Labour Court deemed the case a workplace accident, which was said to have hindered Allan late in his career. The decision will be reviewed on appeal by the Regional Labour Court of the Second Region, TRT-2, a second instance body.
Allan underwent meniscus surgery on his right knee in 2022. He says the club required him to keep playing, which he claims worsened the injury and led to two further operations. That year he was voted best player as Corinthians won the Liga Nacional de Futsal and he was influential in the Paulista.
The club must pay R$ 50 thousand for moral damages and R$ 50 thousand for existential damages. It is also liable for a pension equal to 100% of the wages Allan would have earned until he turns 40, he is 36.
The pension is estimated at R$ 800 thousand, plus around R$ 100 thousand for stability and R$ 223 thousand in labour entitlements after image rights were recognised as salary. The total is a little over R$ 1.2 million.
Allan made 35 appearances and scored 12 goals for Corinthians. After four months with Atlântico Erechim, he returned to Parque São Jorge in 2023 but played only four times due to physical problems.
While declining to comment on an ongoing case, Corinthians denied a workplace accident and disputed the expert findings.
