Corinthians pay CNRD instalment early, seek to overturn CBF ban

Throughout this Tuesday (6th), Corinthians made an early payment of the third installment of the agreement made by the club with its creditors at the National Dispute Resolution Chamber (CNRD), a CBF body that serves as a means to resolve disputes between institutions, coaches, and athletes.

The deadline for the payment of the third installment would end on the next January 17th (Saturday). The information was initially reported by journalist Samir Carvalho from Canal Café do Setorista. The amount paid was around R$ 7.2 million. Thus, the Alvinegro now seeks to lift the transfer ban at the CBF, in effect since October 20th, when the club delayed the payment of the second installment by three days.

In December, Corinthians had already filed a request with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to lift the punishment. However, the entity stated that it would only allow the club to register new athletes if there was a change in the institution's conduct regarding its commitments.

Corinthians has Cuiabá as its largest creditor in the CNRD, around R$ 18 million. The amounts in question refer to the signing of midfielder Raniele from the Central-West team in January 2024. It is worth noting that, so far, the Alvinegro has not made any signings in this transfer window, which officially opened last Monday (5th).

Transfer Ban at FIFA

The Central do Timão learned that Corinthians is working to lift the transfer ban related to the signing of Félix Torres (R$ 40 million), but still faces bureaucratic details and awaits a resolution by next week. After settling the debt with Matías Rojas, the board's priority is to resolve the issue with Santos Laguna and end the charge that resulted in the punishment applied by FIFA.

Even with the possible release, the club states that it will not make "crazy" moves in the market. The strategy is to seek specific reinforcements, preferably free agents, without transfer fees, as well as loan negotiations or exchanges with other clubs.
