Corinthians pay overdue August wages before decisive Libertadores quarter-final with Estudiantes | OneFootball

On Wednesday, hours before a decisive Conmebol Libertadores quarter-final against Estudiantes, Corinthians settled the men's first-team salaries for August.

According to UOL, the wages had been overdue for more than a week due to cash-flow issues at the club.

On Tuesday, the club cleared outstanding image-rights payments for the women's team before their Brazilian Championship semi-final first leg against Bahia, which they won 1-0 in Salvador.

The funds used were within Corinthians' financial plan, so no loan or advance of future income was required.

Outstanding obligations remain, including one month of image rights to the men's team, part of holiday pay and bonuses. The board has pledged not to allow two months of image-rights arrears, with the next payment due on 20 September.

Tonight from 21:30 Brasília time, Corinthians host Estudiantes at Neo Química Arena needing a win to reach the semi-finals.
