Corinthians have paid Shakhtar Donetsk to clear the loan fee owed for Maycon, a move that averts another transfer ban.
According to ge.globo, the club transferred R$ 5.4 million on Tuesday, settling the agreement signed in December 2022. A CAS ruling published last Friday had given 45 days from notification to pay.
Shakhtar owed about R$ 2.4 million from Pedrinho’s 2021 deal, which was deducted from an estimated R$ 7.8 million total before the balance was paid. Corinthians are also due around 130,000 euros, roughly R$ 780,000, in August via FIFA’s solidarity mechanism linked to that transfer.
CAS found a breach of article 12 of FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, confirming a debt of one million euros plus 10% annual interest from the due dates, alongside fines of 75,000 euros and 45,000 euros for rejecting the appeal.
Separately, the tribunal is also handling Corinthians’ dispute with Talleres over Rodrigo Garro’s early 2024 signing. Talks are under way on a 3.6 million dollar settlement, about R$ 18.7 million, which could rise to around R$ 32 million with charges. Any agreement could suspend the sanction.
In January, Corinthians lifted a FIFA registration ban after paying Santos Laguna R$ 41.6 million for Félix Torres and settled an approximately R$ 41 million debt to Matías Rojas in two instalments. Open cases include about R$ 8 million owed to Philadelphia Union for José Martínez, under CAS review, and R$ 6.26 million to Midtjylland for Charles, already lost at FIFA and now on appeal.
