Memphis Depay will not report back to Corinthians immediately after the Netherlands’ World Cup elimination. He will be granted a short holiday before returning to CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, having gone straight from the club season into international duty without a break.

According to Meu Timao, no return date has been set. The club are expected to agree the timetable with the forward in the coming days.

His current deal runs until 31 July, meaning that from Wednesday he enters the final month of his contract with Corinthians.

The club have three fixtures scheduled before that expiry, against Remo on 23, Bahia on 26 and Athletico-PR on 30, all in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

For Depay to feature, Corinthians must first regularise his status in the FPF (Federação Paulista de Futebol) system, where his contract is mistakenly listed as having ended in June.

Despite the looming deadline, talks over an extended stay are ongoing. Corinthians have submitted a renewal offer that includes a reduced salary and changes to the remuneration structure, and Depay is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks.
