Corinthians plan to extend defender’s contract, but no official offer yet

Corinthians is working to renew the contract of 21-year-old defender João Pedro Tchoca, whose current contract ends in December 2026. Despite the interest, the board has not yet presented an official proposal to the player's staff.

According to information from Itatiaia, in July there was a meeting between the club and the defender's representatives to discuss the possibility of extending the agreement. The athlete and his agents signaled positively, approving the Corinthians project and expressing a desire to stay, even in the face of harassment from foreign teams.

The negotiation is in the hands of the football department led by Fabinho Soldado. So far, there has been no formal response, but the expectation is that a concrete offer will be made by the end of the season.

The board understands that it is essential to value the player, both for his growth on the field and for the need to protect against inquiries from other clubs. This is because, with the approach of the end of the contract, the defender could sign a pre-agreement with another team from June 2026, leaving Corinthians without financial compensation.

Tchoca had his last renewal in May 2024, still under the management of Augusto Melo. In the current season, he has 18 matches (14 as a starter), with one goal scored and one assist.

Last Sunday (28), he won the starting spot in the 2-1 loss to Flamengo, due to André Ramalho's injury, and was one of the highlights of the team. The trend is that he will continue to receive opportunities in the upcoming games.
