According to Meu Timao, Corinthians officially presented right-back Pedro Milans on Saturday for the 2026 season, with the Uruguayan carrying a notable family connection to the club’s 1980s Democracia Corinthiana movement.
That movement, led by players such as Sócrates, Wladimir, Casagrande and Zenon, ran the club through equal votes. The coach remained responsible for selecting line-ups, while matters including signings and training schedules were settled by ballot, directly challenging the ideals of the military dictatorship.
Milans’s grandfather, Marcos Carámbula, also opposed a dictatorship in Uruguay and is an important figure in the country’s recent history. He helped found the magazine “La Plaza”, which provided a space for intellectual resistance and critical reflection under censorship, expressing the value of democracy, a cause he remains engaged with today.
Carámbula also served as president of Juventud de Las Piedras, the club that developed Milans. He has openly supported his grandson, travelling to watch numerous matches, including in other cities, and attending Milans’s debut for Peñarol.
Milans is already registered in the CBF’s Boletim Informativo Diário and could make his Corinthians debut against Velo Clube on Sunday at 20:30.
