Corinthians rally past Unifacisa for fourth straight NBB win at home

On the evening of this Monday (9th), Corinthians hosted Unifacisa at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, located in Parque São Jorge, for their 26th game of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), and won with a score of 81 to 75. With this result, the Alvinegro achieved their fourth consecutive victory in the competition, occupying sixth place in the national tournament.

Coach Jece Leite started the game with the following lineup: Davaunta Thomas, Victão, Elyjah Clark, Lucas Cauê, and Elinho. The bench options were: Rafael Munford, Tico Faria, Kaique, Cauê Borges, Kauan Raymundo, Jamelão, and Gabriel Novaes. The opponent started the game with: Gerson, Coelho, Jimmy, Car, and Melvin Jhonson.

The beginning of the match between Corinthians and Unifacisa was marked by balance, with both teams alternating offensive plays. The club from Parque São Jorge, however, ended up being outscored in the first and second quarters by 28 to 24 and 21 to 12, respectively. Adding up the scores, it was 39 to 36 for the opponent, who was more efficient than the Corinthians team in the first half of the game.

Alvinegro, in the third and fourth quarters, responded in the game and took the lead, winning the last two quarters by 23 to 11 and 22 to 15, respectively. The top scorer for Corinthians in the match was forward Victão, with 16 points and six rebounds. Two other standouts were Gabriel Novaes, with nine rebounds, and point guard Elinho, who tallied 11 points and 13 assists.

In the previous three rounds of the NBB, Corinthians also won: against Vasco and Botafogo, both away, by 75 to 67 and 74 to 73, as well as a 96 to 76 victory over Fortaleza Basquete Cearense at Parque São Jorge. Now, Jece Leite’s squad will return to the court only next Wednesday (18th), at 8:00 PM (Brasília time), to face Mogi, also at Wlamir Marques, for their 27th game of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB).
