Corinthians fell to Internacional at Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre in the Copa do Brasil round of 16 first leg, as Fernando Diniz’s team failed to function collectively.

According to Globo.com, Breno Bidon tested Matheus Cunha inside the first minute, then late in the first half Hugo Souza denied Carbonero after a Gabriel Paulista error.

Soon after the interval, Hugo Souza’s misplaced pass handed Alan Patrick a chance that went unpunished, and Matheus Bidu soon crossed for Gui Negão to head a clear opening over.

Matheus Bahia struck for Inter, then midway through the half Gustavo Henrique fouled Bruno Gomes and Alan Patrick converted the penalty to extend the lead.

Matheuzinho struggled to contain Inter down Corinthians’ right and offered little in attack. Raniele was booked early and lost defensive intensity, while André competed to keep the midfield balanced.

Kaio César delivered one fine cross for Raniele and later shot wide. Lingard arrived 11 minutes into the second half with minimal impact, while Allan, Matheus Pereira, Carrillo and Pedro Raul could not change the picture. Diniz’s choices, including Lingard for André and starting Gui Negão for Yuri Alberto, left Corinthians blunt.
