Corinthians have agreed terms with agent Carlos Leite to settle one of three legal disputes, with obligations to him approaching R$ 100 million.

According to Globo.com, the accord covers unpaid commission on Felipe Bastos in January 2017 and the former midfielder’s image rights from August 2018, following a proposal for an amicable resolution at the end of August.

Ordered to pay R$ 10.2 million in the case, Corinthians chose not to appeal after similar defences had already failed elsewhere. The club will also avoid court costs and legal fees. In return, the credit will be processed through the club’s Regime Centralizado de Execuções, meaning Leite will be repaid in instalments alongside other creditors.

Judge Miguel Ferrari Júnior of São Paulo’s 43rd Civil Court ratified the agreement last Friday. Beyond this R$ 10.2 million, Corinthians still owe Leite a further R$ 81.1 million from deals dating back to 2014, listed in the centralised regime and including two other suits in which his companies prevailed.

In November 2023, late in Duilio Monteiro Alves’ presidency, Corinthians agreed to clear arrears with Leite and some partners by assigning credits from Brax Produções e Publicidade LTDA, which holds the rights to home advertising boards in the Brasileiro from 2025 to 2029.

Brax declined to sign the agents’ contract as a consenting party. Leite says Augusto Melo, Duilio’s successor, required that sign-off to complete the Brax deal. He adds that, after seeking a fresh agreement without a reply, he moved to enforce the debt in court, with cases filed in February 2024.
