Corinthians have reinstated midfielder Alex Santana to first-team training after a spell out, the club said in a statement on Monday.

He trained fully with the group at CT Joaquim Grava. The 30-year-old had been sidelined since the start of the year after returning from a loan at Grêmio, a decision made by Dorival Júnior’s staff before he left the role last week.

He will be available for the Copa do Brasil and the Brasileirão, but cannot be used in the Libertadores group stage because regulation changes are not allowed. He could be registered in any later phase.

Signed from Athletico-PR in mid-2024 for about 2 million euros, roughly R$ 12 million at the time, he has 37 appearances, 17 as a starter, and 2 goals. He was part of the 2025 Paulista title-winning squad.

During his absence he attracted enquiries, though none progressed. The arrival of Diniz has altered his prospects after the coach showed appreciation for the midfielder.

He will only be an option from Saturday against Vitória in the Brasileirão. Before then, Corinthians host Independiente Santa Fe of Colombia at 21:30 on Wednesday at Neo Química Arena in the second round of the Libertadores group stage.
