Corinthians returned to training on Wednesday afternoon after two days off during the FIFA window. Dorival Júnior’s side began preparing for Fluminense on the first of April at the Maracanã, in the ninth round of the Brasileirão.
According to Meu Timao, the session opened with strength work in the gym, then a warm-up on the pitch. The players moved into possession drills and build-up play, before a small-sided game to lift intensity and refine tactics.
There are notable absentees through injury. Kaio César has perifibrotic inflammation in his right hamstring and remains in treatment, while Hugo Farias is recovering from meniscus surgery. Memphis Depay sustained a right anterior thigh injury against Flamengo and is rehabbing in the Netherlands after being withdrawn from international duty.
There are call-ups too. Goalkeeper Hugo Souza is with Brazil, and midfielder André Carrillo is on duty with Peru.
Corinthians are winless in seven matches this season, a run that includes draws with Portuguesa, Cruzeiro, Santos and Chapecoense, and defeats to Novorizontino and Coritiba. Their last victory was on 19 February, a 1-0 win over Athletico Paranaense in round two.
The trip now offers a chance to respond. Away from home, the team will aim to end the sequence and ease early pressure.
