Corinthians reward training ground staff for Copa do Brasil title 🏆

Winning the Copa do Brasil secured Corinthians a prize of R$ 77 million, an amount that will serve a dual purpose within the club. Part of the sum will be used to reduce debts, while another portion will be allocated to pay the bonus agreed upon with the champion squad.

Midfielder Raniele revealed details of the conversations between the players and President Osmar Stabile regarding the division of the prize money. In an interview with Podpah, the player said that the captains came to the meeting with a figure in mind to start negotiations, but were positively surprised by the proposal presented by the board.

“We went for the chat, the captains. So we said: ‘Guys, let’s suggest this amount (for the bonus) to see if we can negotiate.’ But always aiming a bit high so we can lower it and settle on that, right? ‘Let’s suggest this much, so we can get this much.’ We got to the room: ‘Hey, president, let’s get straight to the point. How’s the prize money situation going to be? We know the club’s situation, we don’t want to cause trouble, but we want to get what’s ours, all by right.’ The president said an amount we weren’t expecting. ‘Whoa, that’s already more than we imagined.’ We managed to agree on a good amount. And I was like: ‘Let’s get out of the room quickly before he changes his mind. This is too good to be true,’” said Raniele.

The division of the bonus, however, will not be restricted only to the athletes and coaching staff. According to the midfielder, the group decided to also include the staff at the training center, recognizing the work of all professionals involved in the club’s daily routine.

“We joke about the prize money, but we need it. It’s not just for us. We divided the prize among all the employees. When we got the Paulista bonus, when we were champions, we got a certain amount. And now, we said: ‘We need to make sure.’ André Ramalho said: ‘I want to make sure Dona Maria (from cleaning) gets much more than what she got in the Paulista.’ Because, well, it’s a much bigger, fatter prize, right? Maybe she won’t earn that in a whole year of work,” he added.

In addition to the amounts allocated to the squad and staff, Corinthians will also have a contractual obligation with Memphis Depay. As stipulated in the agreement signed with the striker in September 2024, 6.1% of the Copa do Brasil prize will be passed on to the player. The amount corresponds to R$ 4.725 million, the sum set for each title won by the player wearing the black-and-white shirt, whether in the Campeonato Paulista, Copa do Brasil, Campeonato Brasileiro, Libertadores, or Copa Sudamericana.
