The derby ended in post-match disorder. Corinthians said in a statement that Breno Bidon and Gabriel Paulista were assaulted by Palmeiras security, and that both would file a police report and a complaint with Jecrim, the Special Criminal Court.

The match finished 0-0 in the 11th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Corinthians sought around €20 million, R$ 130 million at current rates, for Bidon in the last transfer window, but no club met the valuation.

Despite interest, Flamengo held no talks with Corinthians and made no offer for Bidon, limiting themselves to an initial enquiry.

Flamengo now face Independiente Medellín (COL) on Thursday 16 at 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã, in the second round of the Libertadores group stage.
