Corinthians seek leniency from CNRD as Cuiabá push to keep transfer ban | OneFootball

Corinthians asked the CNRD for leniency over a missed payment and proposed a revised schedule, but the chamber has imposed a six-month ban on registering new players. Cuiabá have moved to keep the sanction in place.

According to Globo.com, the club told the chamber on Thursday it could not meet Friday’s instalment, then offered to pay the 17 July and 17 October tranches together by 31 August, and to have any ban lifted once those sums are settled.

Corinthians cited a severe financial crisis, saying it has already paid more than R$ 170 million in debts in 2026 and lost gate, sponsorship and digital revenue during the World Cup pause.

The fifth instalment under the plan is estimated at R$ eight million. The move aimed to keep registration options open in this window, which closes on 11 September, while the club also seeks funds to overturn two separate FIFA penalties.

Cuiabá, the largest creditor in the case, has asked the chamber to reject Corinthians’ requests and maintain the transfer ban. It argues the delay is not isolated, pointing to a three-month registration block last year for non-compliance.

President Cristiano Dresch said the shortfall leaves the club unable to cover the squad’s image-rights obligations.

The collective plan, approved in April last year, totals R$ 76 million, with quarterly payments over six years. Each instalment directs 80% to the principal creditor and 20% to legal fees.
