Corinthians host Estudiantes at Neo Química Arena on Wednesday at 21:30 in the Libertadores quarter-final second leg, needing victory to secure a semi-final place and arrest a five-match winless run.
According to Meu Timao, Fernando Diniz’s side must rediscover their winning touch this season to keep their campaign on course.
The sequence began on 23 August with a 2-1 defeat at Coritiba. It was followed by a 1-0 loss to Santos in Itaquera, a 2-1 reverse at home to Chapecoense, a 1-1 draw with Estudiantes in La Plata and Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Flamengo.
Failure to win would make it six without victory, edging towards 2026’s low point. Between February and April the club went nine games without a win, drawing five and losing four, a run that ended with coach Dorival Júnior’s dismissal.
After the 1-1 first leg in Argentina, the tie remains finely poised. Any home win in Itaquera sends Corinthians through, while another draw would take the quarter-final to penalties.
This is Corinthians’ sixth Libertadores quarter-final, after 1996, 1999, 2000, 2012 and 2022. They advanced twice and went out three times, the peak being their unbeaten title 14 years ago.
