Corinthians host Platense on Wednesday in the Libertadores, with Venezuelan referee Alexis Herrera, 36, appointed, under whom they have yet to win.
According to Meu Timao, Herrera has taken charge of two Corinthians matches, both away defeats. The first came in 2020 qualifying, a 1-0 loss at Guaraní in Asunción.
Corinthians won the second leg 2-1 at home but went out on the away goals rule. The other game was a 3-0 defeat at Independiente del Valle in Quito in 2023, which sealed a group-stage exit.
This will be Herrera’s first time refereeing a Corinthians home match. The ledger is two defeats from two, no Corinthians goals and four bookings for their players.
Herrera will be assisted by Alberto Ponte and Erizion Nieto, with Yender Herrera as fourth official.
Kick-off is 21:30 on Wednesday in Itaquera. Fernando Diniz’s side are already through to the last 16 and top of Group E, though victory would boost their overall campaign.
