Corinthians show support after Águia de Marabá accident at the Copinha

Brazilian football went into mourning on the night of last Thursday (15th). The bus of the Águia de Marabá club, from Pará, was involved in an accident in the interior of Tocantins while the delegation was returning from the São Paulo Junior Football Cup. On social media, Corinthians expressed their condolences for the incident.

In the incident, physical trainer Helton Alves lost his life. The team’s coach, Ronan Tyezer, is hospitalized due to his injuries, along with three players from the team. The accident happened on the BR-153, in Santa Rita do Tocantins, when the bus collided with a truck that was stopped on the road without any warning signs.

As mentioned, the club was competing in the Copinha, in the city of Taubaté, and was eliminated in the second round by Juventude, on penalties. The match took place on Tuesday (13th), and due to the long distance, they were still on their way to Pará.

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista deeply regrets and stands in solidarity with Águia de Marabá, after the serious accident suffered by the club’s U-20 delegation, in the interior of Tocantins, as they were returning home after competing in the Copinha.

Our condolences to friends and family for the loss of physical trainer Helton Alves, and we wish a speedy recovery to coach Ronan Tyezer, who is hospitalized.

Much strength in this moment of mourning and pain.
