Corinthians arrive at round 27 of the Brasileirão on a four-match losing run, piling pressure on coach Fernando Diniz before facing Flamengo. According to Coluna Do Fla, the poor form has intensified scrutiny ahead of Sunday’s meeting.
The sequence began with a 1-2 home defeat to Cruzeiro on 16 August, then a 2-1 loss at Coritiba on 23 August, followed by 0-1 against Santos on 30 August, and 1-2 to Chapecoense on 6 September.
Their last league win came on 9 August in round 22, a 2-0 victory over Red Bull Bragantino, with Garro and Pedro Raul scoring at Estádio Cícero de Souza Marques.
A congested calendar, with the Libertadores in midweek, also hampers Corinthians’ recovery. Flamengo won 2-0 at Independiente del Valle in the altitude of Quito, while Corinthians drew 1-1 with Estudiantes in La Plata.
Flamengo are expected to field a mixed side due to midweek exertions: Rossi, Varela, Danilo, Léo Ortiz (Léo Pereira), Ayrton Lucas, Pulgar, Paquetá, Carrascal, Plata, Bruno Henrique (Luiz Araújo), Pedro.
Corinthians may also rotate: Hugo Souza, Pedro Milans, João Pedro Tchoca, Iago Machado, Angileri, Raniele, Charles, Matheus Pereira, Lingard, Dieguinho, Gui Negão (Pedro Raul).
The inter-state fixture takes place on Sunday 13, round 27 of the Brasileirão, with kick-off at 17:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
