Corinthians face Capivariano in the Campeonato Paulista at 20:30 on Thursday, wearing a one-off shirt honouring the Fiel’s famed invasions. According to Meu Timao, it is a special tweak to the black-and-white kit.
Esportes da Sorte, the main sponsor, has altered its chest logo to celebrate historic mass mobilisations by the fanbase. Players will take to the field with a bespoke print reading 'Invasão dá Sorte'.
On Sunday in Brasília, fans 'invaded' the city, closed roads and escorted the bus to Mané Garrincha. Corinthians then beat Flamengo 2-0 to win the Supercopa do Brasil.
The roots go back to 1976, when more than 70,000 Corinthians supporters filled the Maracanã for a semi-final against Fluminense, won on penalties. It returned at the 2000 Club World Cup as the Fiel turned Rio and the Maracanã into a home, helping secure a first world crown.
In 2012 around 30,000 travelled to Japan for the Invasão do Japão, creating a unique scene in Yokohama against Chelsea and helping clinch a second world title.
BYD features near the right sleeve. The Chinese carmaker was a one-off partner for the Supercopa, as in December’s Copa do Brasil final, and remains on the kit for Capivariano. The arrangement is single-match for now, with talks over a longer deal, and if it does not continue into the Dérbi the company will pay for Thursday’s appearance.
