Corinthians returned to work at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava on Tuesday, their first session since winning the Supercopa Rei, as Dorival Júnior prepared for Capivariano and Palmeiras this week.
According to Meu Timao, the opening minutes were open to the media, who also saw forward Kaio César presented inside the facility. The afternoon session was brought forward by one hour, starting at 14:30 rather than 15:30.
The workout began with group runs along the flanks, then light keepie-uppies and rondos. A technical drill followed on a smaller pitch, with 10 players split between two teams and two floaters in an attack-versus-defence set-up, where Pedro Raul, Hugo Farias and Raniele scored.
Meanwhile, goalkeepers Hugo Souza, Kauê, Felipe Longo and Matheus Donelli worked on position-specific exercises.
Centre-back João Pedro Tchoca took part for the first time since returning from Italy, having signed with Torino but coming back after being rejected over his injury record. Memphis Depay trained indoors, while Yuri Alberto continued treatment for the virus that affected him before the Supercopa. José Martínez, currently in Venezuela, was also absent.
Corinthians host Capivariano at 20:30 on Thursday, 5 February, at Neo Química Arena in the Paulistão’s sixth round. On Sunday, also at 20:30, they face Palmeiras in Itaquera in the seventh and penultimate round before the knockouts.
