Corinthians start with 2-1 loss to Bahia, sit 15th | OneFootball

Corinthians opened the 2026 Brasileirão with a 2-1 defeat to Bahia at Vila Belmiro in Santos. The result leaves them 15th after the first round.

According to Meu Timao, the early table has three groups, winners, draws and defeats. Seven sides took maximum points, Chapecoense, Vitória, Fluminense, Bahia, São Paulo, Red Bull Bragantino and Athletico Paranaense, with Chapecoense top on goal difference.

The only draw so far came in Belo Horizonte, where Atlético Mineiro and Palmeiras finished 2-2 at Arena MRV.

Among the beaten, Corinthians sit behind Grêmio and ahead of others on tiebreakers such as goal difference and cards. Flamengo follow, then the relegation zone currently contains Internacional, Coritiba, Santos and Remo, all on zero points.

The opening round is not yet complete. On Thursday, Mirassol face Vasco da Gama at 20:00, and Botafogo host Cruzeiro at 21:30 at Estádio Nilton Santos.

Corinthians now have a 15-day gap before resuming league duties. Before that comes the Supercopa do Brasil final against Flamengo on Sunday. They then meet Capivariano in the Paulista on Thursday, 5 February, at 20:30 at Neo Química Arena.
