Corinthians drew 1-1 with Flamengo at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, closing out round eight of the Brasileirão. They end the weekend 11th on 10 points.
As reported by Meu Timao, the result keeps Dorival Júnior’s side off the pace set by the leaders. They slipped two places from ninth after Vasco da Gama and Vitória won during the week.
The gap to the G5 remains four points. Bahia are fifth on 14 despite a 4-1 defeat to Remo earlier in the day, behind Flamengo only on goal difference and with the Rio club holding a game in hand. Palmeiras lead on 19, ahead of São Paulo after winning their head-to-head on Saturday.
Corinthians are as close to the Libertadores berths as they are to the drop zone. Botafogo are 17th on six points after beating Red Bull Bragantino, the same total as Mirassol and Remo. Cruzeiro prop up the table with four.
Corinthians travel to face Fluminense at the Maracanã on 1 April. Kick-off is at 21:30, the fixture counts for round nine.
