According to Globo.com, Corinthians began preparations on Friday for Sunday’s Paulistão clássico against São Paulo, scheduled for 16:00 at Neo Química Arena. Rodrigo Garro worked with the ball as he continues his recovery from left wrist surgery.
A day after a 3-0 defeat by Bragantino, the starters stayed inside at CT Joaquim Grava. The remaining players trained on the pitch, where coach Dorival Júnior oversaw attack-versus-defence drills and a small-sided game.
The plan remains for Garro to return only at the end of the month. He should be fit for the Supercopa do Brasil against Flamengo on 1 February in Brasília.
Some key names who were rested in Bragança are due to return for the derby. Gustavo Henrique, Matheuzinho, Breno Bidon and Yuri Alberto were among those who began on the bench.
Memphis Depay should remain out. He returned to pitch work on Wednesday, but is still limited to controlled sessions with reduced impact and intensity.
Raniele is still a doubt with lingering pain. José Martínez remains in Venezuela awaiting passport renewal, and Corinthians will complete their preparation on Saturday.
