Corinthians struggle in Paulista Basketball quarter-finals

Last Thursday, 25, Corinthians was defeated by Esporte Clube Pinheiros at home and said goodbye to the Paulista Basketball Championship. Even with the home advantage, Timão could not take advantage and lost two matches in the three-game series. It's the second year in a row falling at this stage.

Last year, after a good campaign in the initial phase, of points race, Corinthians ended up being eliminated by Paulistano, a setback for the club in the grand final of the 2023 edition. In the two previous years, however, Timão suffered again in the quarterfinals, being defeated by Bauru (2021) and Paulistano (2022).

In addition to the good 2023 campaign, Corinthians also managed to stand out in 2019. The club from Parque São Jorge passed Pinheiros in the quarterfinals, eliminated Mogi in the semifinals, but ended up being defeated by Bauru in the title decision.

Despite the negative record since the reactivation of the modality, in 2017, Corinthians is the second club in history with the most Paulista Basketball Championship wins, with 14 titles, only behind Sesi Franca, which reached the 16th trophy last year.

Without the state championship to compete in, Corinthians now focuses on the New Basketball Brazil (NBB) and the South American Tournament. The next commitment takes place on October 18, in the former, against Minas, at home, at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium.
