Corinthians to keep professional futsal team until 2026

Amid the final stretch of the futsal season, Corinthians has decided to keep the sport active for next year. According to Meu Timão, the decision comes even after statements from president Osmar Stabile, who said in a meeting of the Advisory Council (Cori) that he was considering ending the team at the end of 2025.

After the minutes were released and the fans became aware, the possibility sparked reactions and reached the Corinthians Futsal squad, with Deives acting as spokesperson on social media to reassure the fans, expressing hope that the project would not be abruptly ended.

According to the president, the club would only keep the youth futsal categories, which are part of the grand project at Parque São Jorge. Falcão, considered the greatest in the history of the sport, was discovered at Corinthians. The club is also a reference point, with six players who won the last World Cup having played for Timão.

This season, the team led by Fernando Malafaia won two tournaments: the Taça SP and the Torneo Mucho Más in Spain. In addition, Corinthians was also runner-up in the Super Copa Gramado, is in the final of the Campeonato Paulista, and needs just a draw to reach the final of the Liga Nacional de Futsal (LNF).

Besides the possibility of two important titles, Corinthians is also experiencing a farewell with Deives, the greatest idol in the history of its futsal team. He announced his retirement at the start of the season and aims to end his career with two title celebrations.

Even without the legendary number 10 next year, Parque São Jorge could also host the Futsal Libertadores, granting Corinthians a spot in the competition.
