Corinthians train at Canindé before Cruzeiro decider in Brasileirão Feminino | OneFootball

Corinthians held their penultimate training session at the Estádio do Canindé on Saturday morning before Monday 7 September’s Brasileirão Feminino quarter-final second leg against Cruzeiro, kick-off 17:00. According to Meu Timao, the workout also doubled as pitch familiarisation.

It began with an on-field warm-up, then head coach Emily Lima led tactical work on defensive organisation and set-piece movements. The team will complete preparations on Sunday morning at their training centre.

Corinthians won the first leg 1-0 at the Arena Independência in Minas Gerais, with Vic Albuquerque scoring. A draw will send them through to face Bahia in the semi-finals. If Cruzeiro win by one, the tie goes to penalties, and by two or more, they advance.

Since the women’s programme was reactivated in 2016, Corinthians have played 21 times at Canindé, winning 19, drawing one and losing one, scoring 66 and conceding eight.

This season they have hosted three fixtures there due to problems with the Fazendinha pitch, beating Mixto 4-1, Vitória 4-0 and Santos 4-1, all in the Brasileirão Feminino.

Parque São Jorge cannot stage this phase because regulations require knockout ties in stadiums above 10,000 capacity. An FPF report lists the Fazendinha at 9,500 official, with 9,000 the recommended safe figure. Neo Química Arena hosts the men’s match with Chapecoense at 19:30 on Sunday, and with the surface still settling after a full replacement, maintenance staff advised the turnaround was insufficient.
