Corinthians landed three places in ESPN’s Bola de Prata team of the third round, with Matheus Bidu named the standout of the matchweek. The round concluded on Thursday night.
According to Meu Timao, goalkeeper Hugo Souza, centre-back Gabriel Paulista and left-back Matheus Bidu made the XI after the 2-0 win over Red Bull Bragantino at Neo Química Arena.
Gabriel Paulista and Bidu scored in that victory, while Hugo Souza saved Isidro Pitta’s penalty and drew level with Gylmar dos Santos Neves in the club’s historic ranking for penalty saves.
Bidu posted 7.78 points, the highest mark of the round. Other leading performers included Luciano Juba, who struck Bahia’s winner against Vasco da Gama, and Kevin Viveros, decisive in Athletico Paranaense’s 2-1 success over Santos.
The third-round XI comprised Hugo Souza, Samuel Xavier (Fluminense), Gustavo Gómez (Palmeiras), Gabriel Paulista, Matheus Bidu, Martinelli (Fluminense), Andreas Pereira (Palmeiras), Everton Ribeiro (Bahia), Viveros (Athletico-PR), Breno Lopes (Coritiba) and Lucas Ronier (Coritiba), with coach Luis Zubeldía (Fluminense).
Bola de Prata scoring is weighted 40% to statistics from the 'Algoritmo DataESPN' and 60% to ESPN journalists’ ratings. The ideal team must include a goalkeeper, two centre-backs, two full-backs, a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a forward, with the final three spots filled by the highest scorers without exceeding three per position.
Corinthians ended the third round 12th on three points, level with 11th-placed Botafogo and ahead of Grêmio in 13th and Vitória in 14th on goal difference.
