Corinthians ultras to boycott team welcome before Copa do Brasil semis

Next Wednesday (10th), Corinthians will visit Cruzeiro at 9:30 PM (Brasília time), at Mineirão Stadium, for the first leg of the Copa do Brasil semifinals. Central do Timão had reported last week that Gaviões da Fiel, the club’s main organized supporters group, was planning to support the squad as they left CT Dr. Joaquim Grava heading to the airport.

However, according to the portal Meu Timão, the action was canceled by the supporters due to the players’ attitude in recent matches. According to the report, the absence of fans in front of the training center is a form of protest against the players’ ‘lack of effort’ in recent games and performances.

It’s worth remembering that Corinthians finished the 2025 Brazilian Championship only in 13th place with 47 points (12 wins, 11 draws, and 15 losses – 42 goals scored and 47 conceded). Last Sunday (7th), the Alvinegro only managed a 1-1 draw with Juventude in Itaquera, in the last round of the tournament. In the last four rounds of the national competition, the team drew with Botafogo (H) and Juventude (H), and lost to Cruzeiro (A) and Fortaleza (A).

Furthermore, according to the Meu Timão report, another reason for the cancellation was the scheduled departure time of the delegation from the training center to Guarulhos Airport, which, due to logistical issues, would affect the number of fans able to support the squad.

On Monday (8th), members of the Gaviões da Fiel board were in Minas Gerais for discussions and logistical arrangements with the Belo Horizonte Shock Battalion, aiming to ensure the safety of fans who will attend the match at the stadium.

Three-time Copa do Brasil champions (1995, 2002, and 2009), Corinthians are seeking to win the tournament for the fourth time after several seasons falling just short. In the last 16 years, the Alvinegro have been runners-up twice (2018 and 2022) and semifinalists twice (2023 and 2024). The possible final opponent will be Fluminense or Vasco da Gama.
