Corinthians unbeaten against Velo Clube, better record at Benitão

With excitement, Timão secured their second victory in the Paulistão by defeating Velo Clube in the fifth round of the state championship. The winning goal was scored by Yuri Alberto, who came on in the second half and maintained the record of Corinthians never having lost to this opponent. Additionally, the team also improved their performance in matches at Benito Aguinelo Castellano, known as Benitão.

The history between Corinthians and Velo Clube is brief, now with only five encounters throughout history—four in the Campeonato Paulista and one friendly. In total, Timão has four wins and one draw, with eight goals scored against just one from Galo Vermelho. There have been two victories at the home of the Rio Claro club, in addition to the aforementioned draw.

The last meeting between Time do Povo and Velo Clube took place on January 19, 2025, in the Campeonato Paulista, in a match held at Neo Química Arena. On that occasion, Timão won 2-1, with goals from Igor Coronado and Talles Magno, both of whom are no longer with the club. The match was also marked by controversy, when Romero asked to take a penalty instead of Yuri Alberto and ended up missing the shot.

After facing Velo Clube away, Corinthians now turns their attention to their debut in the Brazilian Championship. Next Wednesday (28th), at 8:00 PM (Brasília time), the Alvinegro hosts Bahia in Santos, at Vila Belmiro, for the first round of the competition.
