Corinthians unbeaten in Brasileirão Feminino openers, v Atlético-MG

On the night of last Friday (13th), Corinthians faced Atlético-MG at Arena MRV, in a match valid for the first round of the 2026 Brazilian Women's Championship, and won 1-0. Midfielder Letícia Monteiro, halfway through the first half, scored the goal for the Brabas. The three points already put the Corinthians team in the fight for the top positions in the standings.

The victory also kept the Brabas unbeaten in the history of matches against Atlético-MG. In five games between the two teams in the history of the competition, there have been four Corinthians wins and one draw, which equals an 80% success rate. There have also been seven goals scored and two conceded. The first match between the teams took place in the 2022 Brazilian Women's Championship, at Independência, and ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the following four games, the club from Parque São Jorge won them all. In the 2023 Brazilian Championship, at Estádio Primeiro de Maio, ABC Paulista, a 1-0 victory. The following year, the two teams faced each other in the Women's Supercup, at Distrital do Inamar, in Diadema, and the Alvinegro won 1-0. In the 2024 Brazilian Women's Championship, a 3-1 win away from home at Sesc Venda Nova.

And finally, in the debut of the 2026 Brazilian Women's Championship, the Brabas won 1-0 at Arena MRV. Corinthians also maintained a perfect record in opening matches of the national competition since the reactivation of the women's team in 2016. In total, there have been 11 matches, with a 100% success rate, scoring 48 goals and conceding only seven.

It’s worth remembering that the Brabas return to the field next Friday (20th). At 9:30 pm (Brasília time), Corinthians will host Fluminense at Neo Química Arena, for the second round of the national tournament.
