Corinthians unbeaten run in derbies at Neo Química Arena goes on

On the afternoon of last Sunday (18), Corinthians ended up drawing 1-1 with São Paulo at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the third round of the first phase of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista. Breno Bidon, in the final stretch of the second half, was the one who scored the goal for Corinthians. The result left the Corinthians team in seventh place on the overall table with four points – only the top eight qualify for the tournament’s knockout stage.

The draw meant that the Alvinegro maintained its unbeaten record in derbies played at Neo Química Arena. The last defeat for the club from Parque São Jorge playing in Itaquera against its three main state rivals happened on January 30, 2024 – almost two years ago – when the Alvinegro team was beaten 2-1 by São Paulo, in a group stage match of the Campeonato Paulista. That win, at the time, was the first and only victory for the Morumbis team at the Arena since the stadium opened in 2014.

Since then, Corinthians have played ten derbies at Neo Química Arena, with six wins and four draws – 15 goals scored and seven conceded, with a 73.3% points rate. In 2024, Alvinegro did not face Santos at home because their rival was in Serie B. The only match between the two that year took place at Vila Belmiro.

Of the ten derbies, four were against Palmeiras (two wins and two draws), three against São Paulo (one win and two draws), and three against Santos (three wins). Against their biggest rival, the matches were valid for the Campeonato Paulista, Brasileirão, and Copa do Brasil. Playing against the Morumbis team, two games were in the Brasileirão and one in the Campeonato Paulista. Against the Baixada Santista team, two were in the state championship and one in the Brasileirão.

It’s worth remembering that Corinthians will return to the pitch this Thursday (22), at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), against Santos, at Vila Belmiro, for the fourth round of the first phase of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista. A win is crucial for Alvinegro to stay in the fight for the best campaigns and to be able to decide matches at home in the knockout stage.
