Corinthians will host Palmeiras on the evening of this Sunday (8) at 8:30 PM (Brasília time) at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the seventh round of the first phase of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista. With the partial completion of the round, Alvinegro currently occupies the fifth position in the overall standings with 11 points (three wins, two draws, and one loss – nine goals scored and five conceded). A victory could move the Corinthians team to second place, provided RB Bragantino does not win their match. If that happens, they will remain in third.

Corinthians arrives at the classic in good form this season. This is because, last Sunday (1), Alvinegro won the Brazilian Super Cup for the second time in Brasília, defeating Flamengo 2-0. Meanwhile, last Thursday (5), Dorival Júnior's team beat Capivariano in Itaquera with a score of 3-0 in the sixth round of the Paulistão. So far in 2026, they have four wins, two draws, and two losses – 12 goals scored and seven conceded.

Probable lineup and absences for Corinthians

The Corinthians coaching staff may have up to four absences for the Derby. They are: defender Cacá (in negotiations with Athletico-PR), left-back Hugo Farias (right knee injury), midfielder José Martínez (recently returned), and forward Kaio César (muscle injury in the right thigh).

Thus, Corinthians is expected to start the classic at full strength: Hugo Souza; Matheuzinho, Gabriel Paulista, Gustavo Henrique, and Matheus Bidu; Raniele, André, André Carrillo (Rodrigo Garro), and Breno Bidon; Memphis Depay and Yuri Alberto.

Probable lineup for Palmeiras

The only absence for the Alviverde team is forward Paulinho, who is still recovering from an injury in the medical department. According to ge.globo, coach Abel Ferreira intends to field: Carlos Miguel, Khellven, Murilo, Gustavo Gómez, and Piquerez; Marlon Freitas, Andreas Pereira, and Mauricio; Allan, Flaco López, and Vitor Roque.

Refereeing

The referee will be Raphael Claus, assisted by Danilo Ricardo Simon Manis and Evandro de Melo Lima. The fourth referee and VAR will be Fagson Junior dos Santos Silva and Thiago Luis Scarascati, respectively. All were appointed by the Paulista Football Federation (FPF).

Corinthians fans who are not at the Neo Química Arena can watch the match on Record (open TV), Cazé TV (YouTube), TNT Sports (closed network), and HBO MAX (streaming). After the final whistle, Central do Timão will provide a summary of the 90 minutes, as well as the post-match press conference with coach Dorival Júnior and mixed zones with the players.

After facing Palmeiras in Itaquera for the state championship, Corinthians will shift their focus to the Brazilian Championship. Next Thursday (12), at 8:00 PM (Brasília time), Alvinegro will face Red Bull Bragantino at the Neo Química Arena for the third round of the national competition.
