Corinthians want Maycon to stay, Shakhtar debt a hurdle

Shakhtar Donetsk, this time, does not intend to make negotiations easy with Corinthians for the permanence of Maycon, whose loan contract ends in December 2025. The São Paulo club has already shown interest in keeping the midfielder for the next season, but has not yet initiated formal talks, aware that the current scenario is quite unfavorable.

According to information from ESPN, Corinthians has a debt of 1 million euros (about R$ 6.2 million at the current exchange rate) with the Ukrainian team, with 500,000 euros referring to the 2023 loan and another 500,000 euros to the 2024 loan.

Since the current agreement was made without additional costs and yet there was no payment, Shakhtar will hardly accept a new loan in 2026.

In light of this, Corinthians is practically obliged to consider the definitive purchase of Maycon, who is currently one of the pillars of the team led by Dorival Júnior and has become a starter in recent weeks.

Shakhtar, on the other hand, has positively evaluated the midfielder's performance this season and does not rule out using him again, as the player has a contract with the club until June 2027.

Since his return to Corinthians in 2022, motivated by the war between Russia and Ukraine, Maycon, now 28 years old, has played 129 matches, scored nine goals, and provided seven assists. Adding his two stints at the club, he has played 236 matches and scored 17 goals.
