Corinthians’ win over Capivariano shakes up 2026 rankings

On the night of this Thursday (5th), Corinthians faced Capivariano at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the sixth round of the first phase of the 2026 São Paulo State Championship, and won 3-0. The result moved the Alvinegro from seventh to fifth place in the overall state standings with 11 points (three wins, two draws, and one loss – nine goals scored and five conceded).

The victory over the team from the interior of São Paulo also stirred up the Corinthians rankings for the 2026 season. Midfielder Dieguinho and winger Kayke, who both scored their first goals as professionals, entered the team's top scorers ranking for the year. Forward Gui Negão, who scored again after just over four months, followed the same path.

The list of assist providers also gained new members. Left-back Matheus Bidu, who came on at the end of the first half replacing Hugo Farias, assisted Dieguinho to open the scoring. The number 61, in turn, assisted Gui Negão to score the second goal, giving his first assist of the year. For the third goal, forward Memphis Depay, in his third game of the year, had his first involvement in a team goal this year and assisted winger Kayke.

After defeating Capivariano in Itaquera, Corinthians remains focused on the São Paulo State Championship. Next Sunday (8th), at 8:30 PM (Brasília time), the Alvinegro will host Palmeiras at the Neo Química Arena for the seventh round of the first phase of the state championship. Currently, the Corinthians team is in fourth place, two points behind the leader Novorizontino, with 13.
