Corinthians without four, three at risk for Cruzeiro clash

On the evening of this Sunday (23), Corinthians returns to the field for the Brazilian Championship. In a match valid for the 35th round, Timão visits Cruzeiro at Mineirão, at 8:30 PM (Brasília time). Currently, the Alvinegro occupies the 9th position in the national tournament with 45 points (12 wins, nine draws, and 13 losses – 38 goals scored and 39 conceded).

For the match against the team from Minas Gerais, which occupies the 3rd position in the table, coach Dorival Júnior will have four confirmed absences: Hugo Souza (muscle injury in the left thigh), Matheus Bidu (pain in the right knee), Memphis Depay (sprain in the left knee and bone edema) and Maycon – tendinopathy in the right knee.

Besides the absences, the club from Parque São Jorge will have to pay attention to the situation of three players, who are on two yellow cards and if they receive a third this Sunday (23), they will not face Botafogo next Sunday (30), at Neo Química Arena, for the 36th round of the Brasileirão. They are: midfielders Charles and Breno Bidon, and forward Talles Magno.

In addition to the mentioned players, left-back Matheus Bidu also has two yellow cards accumulated and is one away from suspension, but he will not play this Sunday due to the pain in his right knee.

Timão is coming off a positive streak in the last rounds of the Brasileirão, winning four of the last six matches played in the tournament. Three victories came in a row, after Alvinegro defeated Atlético-MG 1-0, Vitória 1-0, and Grêmio 2-0. Two defeats interrupted the momentum, a 2-1 loss to Red Bull Bragantino and a 1-0 loss to Ceará, but in the last round, the team redeemed itself by defeating São Paulo 3-1.
