Corinthians Women extend first-choice right-back’s contract until 2028

Shortly after announcing the renewal with goalkeeper Nicole Ramos this Friday (28th), Corinthians confirmed another contract extension for a player from the women's team. This time, the target of the new agreement was right-back Gi Fernandes, who was one of the highlights of the Brabas this season, with significant playing time in the campaigns for the Brazilian Championship and Copa Libertadores titles. Her contract is now valid until 2028.

At Parque São Jorge since 2024, Gi Fernandes has accumulated 49 matches for Timão, scoring a total of five goals and providing nine assists during this period. She was one of the players whose contract was set to expire in December, putting the Alvinegro at risk of losing her to another club without receiving any financial compensation – as is expected to happen with midfielder Mariza, who is close to joining Mexican football.

The other players with undefined situations are currently in different circumstances. The experienced Lelê and Tamires are expected to continue at Corinthians, while Eudimila and Letícia Santos might be leaving. Additionally, contracts for Kemelli, Gabi Zanotti, Erika, and Paulinha will end next month. However, coach Lucas Piccinato already has his renewal underway.

Corinthians still needs to conclude its 2025 season with the end of the Campeonato Paulista – the team will play the return leg of the semifinal against São Paulo on the 4th of next month at Neo Química Arena, with the advantage of a draw. After the break, the start of the 2026 season also promises to be busy, with the FIFA Champions Cup taking place between January and February and the Supercopa do Brasil a week later.
