Corinthians youth chief hails U12 win, thanks Fiel for support

Last weekend, November 8 and 9, the Corinthians Under-12 category won the Zares Under-13 in the city of São João da Madeira, a district of Aveiro, in Portugal. The victory was supported by the strong presence of the Fiel Torcida, which contributed to the 100% success rate in the competition.

“An extremely important point (for the victory) was the Gaviões, Fiel Coimbra, and Fiel Porto, who were there with the drums at every game. It was very exciting. People in the stadium were all surprised because they imagined that here, although they know the fans, everyone said the same thing, that they go everywhere, it was very cool”, said Carlos Roberto Auricchio (Nenê do Posto), director of the youth categories, in contact with the Central do Timão.

In the Zares Cup, the club from Parque São Jorge began its journey in Group A, where it defeated Sporting-POR (1 x 0), GD São Roque (22 x 1), Braga (7 x 0), and Oliveirense (6 x 0). In the knockout stage, Corinthians beat Sanjoanense in the quarterfinals (5 x 0), 6 x 0 against Sporting in the semifinals, and in the grand final, a 3 x 0 victory over Celta de Vigo from Spain.

“We left an excellent impression here in Europe because they were strong teams. In the other group (B), there were Benfica, Porto, and big games, very balanced among them, but with us, we ended up beating everyone”, added the director.

It is worth mentioning that Timãozinho fielded an alternative team for the tournament, as the starters were about to play the second leg of the semifinals of the Paulista Championship of the category, against Mirassol. In the state championship, the Alvinegro qualified for the final after winning both matches.
