AC Milan appointed Sergio Conceicao with the hopes that the Portuguese could lead the club forward. However, the progress has not been easy to see, if identifiable at all.

This season will stick out in Milanese memories for some time for simple reasons. Milan have been poor, mistakes have no names and the controversies have been regular. As a whole, it paints a bleak picture moving forward.

For many reasons, you could then say that this is enough reason to allow some continuance for the head coach. A difficult environment was expected, but there have been situations to arise that any manager would struggle with.

Then, you have the persistent rumours about the future, which Conceicao actually voiced his frustration over, as Corriere della Sera (via Milan News) reports, with the Portuguese stating that there have been ‘new coaches approaching the club each day’ since January.

Even if this has no effect on the head coach’s ambitions and plans, it can certainly affect the mental states of the players and perhaps even the supporters, who find it difficult to back a man whose future seems already chosen.

For now, though, Conceicao is focusing on denying those rumours, even if he knows that is a difficult task. To earn that chance, the Coppa Italia must be won and a top-four place must be earned, but even then, his chances of a renewal are slim.
